"Let This Grieving Soul Retire!" is a Japanese light novel series written by Tsukikage and illustrated by Chyko. The story follows Krai Andrey, a Level 8 treasure hunter known as the "Thousand Tricks," who leads the renowned party "Grieving Souls" and the clan "First Steps." Despite his formidable reputation, Krai secretly desires a peaceful retirement, but his companions' escalating expectations continually thrust him into perilous adventures.

Anime Adaptation: An anime television series adaptation was announced on February 20, 2024. Produced by Zero-G and directed by Masahiro Takata, the series premiered on October 1, 2024, on Tokyo MX and other networks. The opening theme song, "Kattō Tomorrow," is performed by Lezel, while the ending theme, "Scream!," is by Pmaru-sama. Crunchyroll streamed the series outside Asia, and Muse Communication licensed it in South and Southeast Asia. Following the 13-episode first season, a second season was announced.

Main Characters:

• Krai Andrey: The 20-year-old male protagonist, a Level 8 treasure hunter with the moniker "Thousand Tricks." He is the leader of the "Grieving Souls" party and founder of the "First Steps" clan. Despite his reputation for "absolute defense" and exceptional foresight, Krai considers himself weak and yearns for retirement.

• Tino Shade: A 16-year-old Level 4 treasure hunter and apprentice to Liz Smart. She harbors deep admiration for Krai, referring to him as "Master is God," and is often subjected to rigorous training by Liz, leaving her perpetually anxious.

• Liz Smart: Known as the "Stifled Shadow," Liz is a 20-year-old Level 6 treasure hunter and Krai's childhood friend. Serving as the "Thief" of the "Grieving Souls," she exhibits a friendly demeanor towards friends but harbors a ruthless side, especially during training sessions with Tino. She appears to have romantic feelings for Krai, which he does not reciprocate.

• Sitri Smart: Liz's younger sister, dubbed "Deep Black," is a 19-year-old Level 2 treasure hunter specializing as an "Alchemist." She is known for her strategic acumen within the "Grieving Souls" and shows affection towards Krai, often planning secret hideouts to spend time with him, much to his dismay.

• Luke Sykol: Bearing the title "Thousand Swords," Luke is a 20-year-old Level 6 treasure hunter and the "Swordsman" of the "Grieving Souls." Renowned for wielding a wooden sword as his primary weapon, he is considered a troublemaker alongside Liz.

• Eva: The Vice Clan Master of "First Steps," Eva is recognized as Krai's reliable "right hand," assisting in managing the clan's affairs and supporting its members.

Media Formats:

• Light Novels: The series began serialization on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō on January 27, 2018. It was later acquired by Micro Magazine, which has released twelve volumes under their GC Novels imprint as of September 2024.

• Manga: A manga adaptation illustrated by Rai Hebino started serialization on Kadokawa's ComicWalker website on April 27, 2019. As of September 2024, ten volumes have been published.
